19th August

The boys have settled back into school now, Thomas, my eldest, started middle school......oh my. He`s still quite immature for his age but I know by the time he finishes 8th grade it will be a different story!
Now I will get hard at work on my ebay store and dream of our cruise in October......Ahhhh!
For all of you out there who have a cricut machine I found a good website with cheap cartridges,, a lot only $18.00 and very reasonable shipping...$3.95. It is called CricutMachine.com, they also sell on ebay but sometimes they go for more than what they are at the website.
I`m starting to think about Christmas.......lots of ideas. A friend will be working with me on Christmas items, she is very creative but has a different style to me... more earthy. She sells on ebay too, her user name is Belbaze, check out her stuff!

August 5th 2010

With the summer vacation almost over we are busy getting ready for back to school..............my eldest starts middle school! WOW! Where did the years go?
I have been busy making bags, tags and other items for my ebay store ~ its steadily increasing in sales and I am still enjoying everything about it............especially designing new items. I have been bugging my husband for a studio building at the back of the house but he is not very receptive to that right now..............maybe one day!
We got to do a little antiquing yesterday as we had to make a trip to Augusta for my sons doctors appt. I bought some old wooden spools to display my ribbons on and some vintage silverplate knives, forks and spoons with pretty detailing...............these are just one of the many things I collect.
I took my new Vera Bradley Raspberry Fizz pocket book along with me that I picked up at the thrift store on Monday for............wait for it..................27 cents.........yes, 27 cents.......don`t you just love it when you find a bargain!?

July 4th 2010

Happy 4th July everyone!
Back from vacations now and back to work.................thinking up new ideas, catching up with orders and keeping house!
I`ve been having fun with chipboard die cuts and German glass glitter...............what a transformation...so pretty hanging from a length of scrunched seam binding......my favourite is the Eiffel Tower.
The die cuts can be purchased from many sellers on Ebay and Etsy ~~ all kinds of shapes and sizes. You could also use regular glitter but it is definately messier and does not have the scrumptious layered look of the glass glitter.
Email me if you want to know where to get any of the products to make these................or......you could just buy mine!!

June 11th 2010

Just got back from 3 weeks in England, visiting my parents and the rest of the bunch back home! Had a great time but it sure is nice to be home....sweet home..
On Monday we leave for Edisto Beach, SC. We rent a state park cabin every year, usually Hunting Island beach but unable to get that one this year..........it is fun to laze around the beach for a week. Both my boys like to surf, they are only beginners but hopefully one day will ride the big waves in Hawaii!!!!!!My husband gets to come on this vacation too, he did not come to England.
Spent the last few days getting all of my ebay orders out from when I was away.......very busy! In my haste I sent out a wrong item to somebody.........I do hate that! Hopefully they will forgive me, I resent the correct item immediately.
How do you like my Tiffany blue box with German glass glitter chandelier???????
See you after my vacation!!!!

Hi Everyone
Spring is definately here! Grass is green, ferns are on the front porch and flowers are blooming!! Yey!
I got lucky at the thrift store today and found 2 rolls of Perma-seam seam binding, not full rolls but pretty colors..............I search almost every week and LOVE it when I find some! I also got a huge spool of vintage cotton ric-rac, its a fine ric-rac in a natural color....way better than the new ric-racs available today. I plan on selling it on ebay in 3 yard pieces...............

April 8th

Wow, doesn`t time fly? April already!

I have decided to open an ebay store, it will be called `A Touch of Vintage Chic`. Please come and check me out! I have put the link at the top of the blog.

Now I need to come up with more ideas to fill it. I do have some things in the works~ I am excited about an idea I have using empty tea bags....................they come with one side open for filling with whatever you desire.............I plan to stamp the tea bags with some French vintage designs, fill with scented dried rose buds or dried peppermint leaves and heat seal the open side....................perfect for placing in drawers, glass bowls on the coffee table, hostess gifts or put one in you bathtub for an aromatic soak!!!!!!!!!!!!Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Another item in the works are French themed tote bags...........I have some great images to transfer to tote bags, napkins, placemats, etc....Look out for these NEW items!

Thanks to all who are following this blog.........I keep waiting for someone to send me a message or write a post.........come on y`all, don`t be shy.

19th March

I do not know if I mentioned it before, but I am from England. I have been here for 15 years, although it feels like way less.................I came in 1995, January, all on my own..........looking back I don`t know how I did it!.....................I am a nurse and came here to Savannah with an agency that found us our jobs and accomodations......there were nurses from Australia, South Africa and Ireland.

I must say, it took a while to adapt to life and nursing here, very different to England.

My contract was for one year, and now 15 years later, here I am with a husband, two lovely boys and a goldendoodle!.................

My husband works at a resturant, a very famous one actually.................it is called The Lady and Sons, it is downtown Savnnah, and owned by Paula Deen................you may have seen her on the Food Network....He has worked there for 14 years, before Paula was even famous, he is now the kitchen manager, but started back then as a line cook.......................we have been very fortunate and are grateful for it.

These are my boys ~ Thomas and Caleb, aged 11 and 8.

Good morning!

Hope you had a good St Patricks day. We live in Savannah, GA. one of the largest parades for this day. We, however, did not go, downtown is CRAZY!

Instead my husband and boys built a treehouse, a pretty cool one too. Now we have to decorate it!

In the mail yesterday came my 2nd set of vintage seam bindings ~ gorgeous. I have already listed some on ebay which I have stamped with French script. Very pretty colors, ones I probably would not have choosen had I bought it new.

How do you like my clothes pins? They come with a magnet on the back for the fridge ~ great for kids artwork ~sure is better than ugly plastic clips!

My youngest son, Caleb, likes to take pictures of him all the time.

Does anyone else have a goldendoodle?

March 5th 2010

Well I feel so guilty, I have not visited my blog for a while.................I will try a little harder!

I have been busy making bags and tags, ribbon and frills for ebay and etsy. Things are going good.................crazy weekend..............multiple orders from ebay made me feel a little overwhelmed but I did manage to get everything shipped by Tuesday.

I`m really enjoying crafting my items....it makes me feel good when people email me to say how pleased they were with there purchases and how PRETTY my things are........I am truly blessed to be able to stay home and do something that I absolutely LOVE to do!

We have had strep throat going around our house this week first my son, Thomas, shortly followed by myself and my other son, Caleb...........I have ordered my husband to stay away from us!!!

Tomorrow we are going on a yard sale and thrift store expedition..........what fun! You never know what you will find. Last month I was lucky enough to get a bunch of vintage lace and some vintage aprons at the Manna house thrift store............the aprons were 25 cents a piece.....Of course they have already found a new home with a lucky ebayer...thankyou.

Today I have been working on some muslin bags that arrived in the mail.........................they have been transformed into the most adorable Tulle dress gift bags, also perfect for lavender or potpouri...............I have some Lemon verbena scented silk rose petals that I will put in mine......

I have just listed them on my ebay site ~ Linen-chic.

I see that I now have one follower on my blog and I am grateful for that..it gives me the incentive to continue to post and share my journey and ideas. Hopefully more followers will come, I need to remember to post my link on my ebay listings..........................

Well, I didn`t get any muslin dyed today. The boys were off school for Presidents day so I was limited in my crafting. I did, however, spend some time creating some new crepe paper frills~

some pretty ones with tulle and rhinestones and some focused around Easter.

I did pretty good on Ebay today, somebody bought 8 of my pretty hand made items, hopefully it will keep up............................

February 14th 2010

Happy Valentines Day!

Today I have decided to start my blog, a place to share my thoughts, ideas and creativity.

I have recently been inspired to follow my passion for creating beautiful things and have just opened my Etsy store, Bitofvintage.

I love to decorate, I love all things vintage and I LOVE shabby chic. I am trying to pull all these things together in the items that I produce~ ~~~~~~
It`s 10pm, my children and husband are in bed, it`s my time to let my mind wander and imagine what wonderful things I can create..............I love my muslin ribbons, this picture is one of my favourites- the pink butterfly on French lettering. I`m trying to think of a new idea for the muslin, I have my bookmarks and my gift tags, but I just know there`s something else out there waiting to be created with this simple cotton fabric.............totes, aprons....they have all been done....... I think I need to start by dying the fabric in some of my favourite shabby chic colors~ pale pink, mint green and china blue~That`s what I`ll do first, and then the rest will follow..............
